OverviewLakeside Campground is situated near Rainbow Lake in the midst of a beautiful ponderosa pine forest. It is one of the oldest National Forest campgrounds in the state of Arizona, and a convenient place to stop overnight in the town of Lakeside, off State Route 260. Popular activities include fishing, hiking and sightseeing.Natural Features:The campground is located among pines at an elevation of 7,000 feet in the Sitgreaves National Forest of eastern Arizona. Wild turkeys, elk and deer live in the area. Recreation:Several hiking trails are within a short drive, such as the Los Caballos Trail. A stable is nearby, where visitors can go on guided horseback rides. Facilities:This large facility has nearly 100 campsites organized into several loops. The sites are level and can accommodate tents, trailers and motor homes up to 32 feet in length. Firewood is available, as are vault toilets and an RV dump station.
