Crosswinds Campground - Jordan Lake State Recreation Area is located in Chatham County, 21 miles southwest of Raleigh off US 64, and can be reached via NC 751 or US 15-501 from Durham and Chapel Hill. The entrance to Crosswinds is on Farrington Road. Traveling west on US 64, turn right onto Farrington Road/SR 1008. Traveling east on US 64, turn left onto Farrington Road/SR 1008.
Alcoholic beverages, firearms (including fireworks) and other weapons are prohibited.
All camping equipment must be inside timbered sites and fires inside metal grills where provided.
Limit of (1) RV and (1) tent, (1) pop-up and (1) tent, or 2 tents per site. Only six people per site are allowed. Duplex sites have a limit of 4 sleeping units, (2) RV's max. On duplex sites, twelve people are allowed. Camping equipment should not be left unattended for more than 12 hours.
There is a $6.00 charge per car for day guests; $4.00 for seniors. Fees apply weekends in April, May and September, then everyday starting the weekend of Memorial Day through Labor Day.
Firewood is available for sale at the park. No collecting of dead wood lying on the ground. Do not cut live trees or limbs from trees.
Building fires in undesignated areas is prohibited.
Park gates will unlock/lock according to posted hours. No entry/exit after hours. There is no parking permitted outside the gate and citation/towing is enforced. No entry or exit is permitted after closing except for law enforcement or medical emergencies. Gate hours are:
November - February: 8 AM to 6 PM;
March, April, September & October: 8 AM to 8 PM;
May - August: 8 Am to 9 PM;
Closed Christmas Day.
One of the three campgrounds at Jordan Lake (Crosswinds, Parker's Creek or Popular Point) will be open year round. Please call the park office or visit the web site for that information. During the winter season, water is shut off for individual campsites. There is still water available at the shower houses.
Pets are allowed except in park buildings and swim areas, but they must be on a leash no longer than six feet and cannot be left unattended.
Quiet hours are from 10 PM until 7 AM and are strictly enforced.
Unlicensed vehicles, motorcycles, golf carts, ATV's and mini-bikes are prohibited with the exception of mobility-aid devices used by a mobility-impaired person. All vehicles are prohibited from walkways, trails and other areas not designated for such purposes.
