Alerts and Important Information


Shelters - Jordan Lake State Recreation Area is located in Chatham County, 21 miles southwest of Raleigh off US 64, and can be reached via NC 751 or US 15-501 from Durham and Chapel Hill. Please visit for shelter directions at Ebenezer, Parker's Creek, Vista Point and White Oak.
Alcoholic beverages, firearms (including fireworks) and other weapons are prohibited.
An entrance fee of $6.00 is charged per vehicle for day guests; $4.00 for seniors during the summer months and is not included in the rental fee. Fees apply weekends in April, May and September, then every day starting the weekend of Memorial Day through Labor Day.
Gates lock at specific hours posted upon entering the park throughout the year. Gate hours are:
November - February: 8 AM to 6 PM;
March, April, September & October: 8 AM to 8 PM;
May - August: 8 AM to 9 PM;
Closed Christmas Day.

Pets are allowed except in park buildings and swim areas, but they must be on a leash no longer than six feet and cannot be left unattended.
Unlicensed vehicles, motorcycles, golf carts, ATV's and mini-bikes are prohibited with the exception of mobility-aid devices used by a mobility-impaired person. All vehicles are prohibited from walkways, trails and other areas not designated for such purposes.



When fishing, a North Carolina resident or non-resident fishing license is required.
A Special Activity permit shall be required for special events like weddings, bike events, festivals, etc. Loud music and amplified sounds are prohibited except by permit. Please contact the park office for further information.
North Carolina State Park rules and regulations are posted in each park and enforced by rangers. Violating these rules and regulations is a misdemeanor and may result in a fine and revocation of permit.
Swimming in designated areas only. No lifeguards on duty.
State vehicle and traffic laws are enforced, and the speed limit is 25 mph unless otherwise posted.
North Carolina State Parks are wildlife sanctuaries; no hunting is allowed and collecting plants, minerals and artifacts is prohibited. State fishing regulations are enforced.
