The unguarded beaches of Janes Island offer visitors the opportunity to swim in the waters of the Chesapeake, but only at their own risk. Swimming is only allowed on Tangier Sound Side Beaches of the Island and area is accessible only by boat. Must provide your own boat; or kayak/canoe rentals are available at the Park during peak season. No swimming from the mainland park shoreline.
Construction of park improvements to Nature Center is scheduled to begin Sept 16, 2013 with a projected completion date of April 8, 2014. During this time period camper registration and limited concession items will be temporary moved to the park administration building (located to the right of the park entrance gate). Other areas of the park that will be closed during construction: Fall of 2013 - campsite A47 and A48. Spring of 2014 - campsites A47, A48, A49, A50, and A51. These sites will remain closed until construction is completed. Other closures affected during construction will be the marina fish cleaning station and the camper trailer storage area lot. NO CONSTRUCTION WORK WILL OCCUR ON WEEKENDS. We apologize for any inconvenience the construction may cause our park patrons. PETS NOT ALLOWED IN CABIN OR IN CABIN AREA OF PARK.
10:00 AM. Customers will be charged an additional night service charge if the customer is not checked-out on time. Due to recent problems involving unnecessary damages to cabins and excessive cleaning needs, customers will be charged $25-$100 should unnecessary damage be found at check-out or the facility requires excessive cleaning.
Tents and camping units are not permitted on Full Service Cabin sites.
The consumption or possession of an open container of an alcoholic beverage will be prohibited in all state park areas with the exception of interior areas of full-service cabins and motorhomes.

MINIMUM STAY: 2015: 7 night minimum stay, June 13 - August 29, 2015
There is a 7 night minimum stay from Saturday-Saturday JUNE 14 - AUG 23, 2014. You must reserve for a total of 7 nights. All other times a 2 night minimum stay. Holiday weekends (May 1 - September 30) will require a 3 night minimum stay.

Due to the potential threat of the Emerald Ash Borer, the Maryland Department Natural Resources has prohibited the importation of personal firewood into all DNR owned and managed properties. Please do not bring firewood with you from home when visiting a DNR property.
Insects may be a nuisance at certain times of the year. Gnats, biting flies, mosquitoes, and ticks may be a problem during the spring, summer and fall. The park is located in a forest environment which could result in a problem with wood roaches, crickets, and mice.

Cabins are open year round. Each cabin is located along the canal with three docks shared by the four cabins and the conference center. No mooring at docks. Beach area accessible by boat only.

The bathroom Tub/Shower in Cabin 1 has limited ADA accessibility as the cabin is not certified 100 percent. Updated changes are planned for the fall/winter of 2013/14.
