JAMES RIVER STATE PARK, VA

Description

James River State Park features nearly 20 miles of hiking /biking / horseback riding trails that meander though 1500 acres of Rolling Meadows and quite forests. Three miles of river frontage offer spectacular views, boat launches, picnic areas and primitive cmaping. RV cmaping, cabins picnic shelters and a canoe livery can also be found among the amenities found at James River.

Notice for Campers

LEAVE YOUR FIREWOOD AT HOME!!
A firewood quarantine has been established for the following localities: counties of Arlington, Fairfax, Fauquier, Louden, and Prince William; and the entire cities of Alexandria, Fairfax City, Falls Church, Manassas, and Manassas Park. It is unlawful to transport firewood from these localities. In general, firewood can harbor insect pests under the bark and in the wood. The transport of infested firewood has been identified as a leading cause in the introduction of harmful forest insects into un-infested forest areas. Help us keep our state parks pest free by leaving your firewood at home.

Buckingham County. From U.S. 60 West, turn right onto Route 605 at the James River Bridge. Travel seven miles, then turn left onto Route 606.

  • Pursuant to Code of Virginia, no fire of any sort is permitted, including charcoal, between February 15 and April 30, except between the hours of 4PM to midnight. This includes campgrounds and picnic area / cabin grills. Camping stoves that are self-contained are permitted (ex. Coleman Stove). from Feb 15 2009 to Apr 30 2009
