HOLE IN THE WALL GROUP SITE, CA

Status: Open through Sun Sep 15 2013   Season Dates
1 site(s) found

Overview

Hole in the Wall Group Site is set along the picturesque East Park Reservoir, which is a significant bird habitat recognized by the American Bird Conservancy. The reservoir attracts a wide variety of bird species, including the tri-colored blackbird, yellow-billed magpie, Canada geese and the woodpecker. Birdwatchers should expect to see migratory movement of warblers in spring and fall. Non-feathered wildlife like wild pigs, coyotes, black-tailed deer and Tule elk inhabit the area too.

Natural Features:

The reservoir is at the edge of the foothills between California's Sacramento Valley and the Coastal Mountain Range.

Recreation:

With 25 miles of shoreline, swimming and boating are big attractions. Fishing finds include channel catfish, largemouth and smallmouth bass, bluegill and rainbow trout.

Facilities:

The group site offers three picnic tables, two campfire rings, two portable bathrooms, and trash service. A boat launch is not available at the campsite, but a public launch is nearby. There's plenty of room here for family reunions, club outings or large gatherings among friends.

Nearby Attractions:

Go horseback riding or hiking around the reservoir or through the Mendocino National Forest, a 913,306-acre collection of mountains and canyons. Or visit the small, pleasant town of Stonyford that's just a few miles north of the group site.
