DescriptionThe original High Point State Park land was donated by Colonel Anthony R. and Susie Dryden Kuser, and was dedicated as a park in 1923. High Point State Park is home of the High Point Monument standing at 1803 feet above sea level and was built through the generosity of the Kusers, in honor of all New Jersey wartime heroes. Today with more than 16,000 acres High Point offers superb trails for hikers, quiet spots for campers and anglers, and many year-around activities for the day visitor.Geography:Located in the extreme northwest corner of New Jersey, the park is situated along the crest of the Kittatinny Mountains in Sussex County. The view from High Point Monument, at 1,803 feet above sea level, is a spectacular panorama of rich farmland and forest, soft hills and lush valleys in three states: New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania. The blue line of the Delaware River divides the verdant ridges of New Jersey from those of Pennsylvania. Recreation:High Point State Park offers many recreational activities for both the day and overnight visitor. Facilities:Lake Marcia offers a seasonal bathhouse open Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend from the hours of 10:00am to 6:00pm. Hot showers, dressing rooms and restrooms are available. An adjacent seasonally operated concession stand is also available. Nearby Attractions:High Point State Park is just one of many New Jersey State Parks in Sussex County. Swartswood State Park, Stokes State Forest, Jenny Jump State Forest, Worthington State Forest and Waywayanda State Park are all within an hour drive. Services & Amenities:
Alerts and Important Information Pets are NOT permitted in any camping facilities.Alcoholic Beverages are NOT permitted in any New Jersey State Park Service Area. Black bears are present in New Jersey. During your stay at the park, all coolers and food-related items must be stored in the trunk of your vehicle at all times. Garbage should be promptly removed from your campsite and put in the appropriate trash receptacle. Minimum Age – camping facilities and sites must be reserved by at least 1 person 18 years of age or older, who shall occupy and be responsible for the facility or site during the rental period. Firewood – Firewood is not furnished at campsites or cabins, but can be purchased at the office during business hours. Visitors are allowed at camping facilities and cabins between the hours of 8:00am – 8:00pm. Quiet hours are observed between 10:00pm – 6:00am. CAMPSITES – Must be reserved for a minimum of 2 nights. The maximum length of stay in a campsite is 14 consecutive nights. GROUP CAMPSITES - May be reserved for a minimum of 1 night up to a 14 night maximum length of stay. GROUP CABIN – Must be reserved for a minimum of 2 nights. The maximum length of stay in the group cabin is 14 consecutive nights. CABINS – From the Friday prior to Memorial Day through the day after Labor Day family cabins must be reserved for a period of whether 7 or 14 consecutive nights. Prior to the Friday of Memorial Day weekend and after Labor Day cabins can be reserved for a minimum of 2 to a maximum of 14 consecutive nights. Getting There:GPS Info.
