Detour for Hickory Creek due to construction in the area: From Denton, south on I-35E: Exit 457 Lake Dallas/ Hickory Creek, turn right on Hickory Creek Rd (about a mile), turn right at the end of Hickory Creek Rd onto Barkley Dr, go left onto Shasta Dr, take a left on Red Bluff Dr by the community center, take a right on Stamford Dr, Stamford Dr crosses Point Vista Rd. The Hickory Creek gatehouse sets directly across Point Vista. From Dallas, north on I-35E: Exit 457 to Swisher Rd exit, make a U-turn under the I-35E overpass onto the access road, turn right on Hickory Creek Rd (about a mile), turn right at the end of Hickory Creek Rd onto Barkley Dr, take a left on Shasta Dr, take a left on Red Bluff Dr by the community center, take a right on Stamford Dr, Stamford Dr crosses Point Vista Rd. The Hickory Creek gatehouse sets directly across Point Vista.

Overview

Hickory Creek sits on the extremely popular Lewisville Lake near Dallas, Texas. The almost 30,000-acre reservoir attracts a fair amount of visitors in summer months with warm water temperatures and excellent fishing opportunities.

Natural Features:

The lake stems from the Elm Fork of the Trinity River in northern Texas, and offers little visibility, but plenty of room for boating and watercraft.

The park sits on the Hickory Creek Arm of Lewisville Lake, very near to the suburbs of Dallas, Texas.

Recreation:

Visitors at Lewisville Lake enjoy picnicking, swimming, boating, fishing and relaxing. Photographers will stay entertained with wildlife and colorful sunsets, while hikers and bikers like to explore the 50 miles of natural surface and paved trails surrounding the lake.

Facilities:

The large campground boasts 121 sites with electric hookups. Ten primitive walk-in sites are also available. Park amenities include hot showers, a dump station, boat ramp, playground and pay phones.

Nearby Attractions:

Several public golf courses are located around the lake, and horseback riding opportunities are available, too. Hickory Creek is just 35 miles away from downtown Dallas.

Head north from Dallas on I-35 east. Take Exit 457B and follow service road to the overpass leading to the southbound access service road. Follow the access road and turn right on Turbeville Road. At the four-way stop, turn left on Point Vista Road.
