CABIN CLOSURE - update May 3, 2013:

Beginning July 15, 2013 thru December 31, 2013, some of the full service cabins at Herrington Manor State Park may be closed during these dates as a result of planned renovation projects: Cabin 1-2-3-14-15-16-17-18-19-20. Interested persons can frequently check back to see if any cabin may have reopened once work is completed. For additional information, contact Herrington Manor 301.334.9180.

Beginning March 1 thru October 31, 2014, Cabins 4-5-6-7-8-9-10-11-12-13 may be closed for renovation.


2013 Reservation/Transaction Fees:

In addition to the park facility use fee, there is a nightly reservation/transaction fee. Internet reservations, the per night fee is $4.56. Call Center, the per night fee is $4.61. Walk-In transactions at the park, the per night fee is $4.51. Reservation/Transaction Fees are Non-Refundable.


Cancellation Fee Policy Change-Effective May 1, 2013:

To better serve our Maryland Park Service customers, we are changing our cancellation policy to a reservation cancellation service charge of $6 per reservation; except for Assateague Island State Park, which will remain at $6 per night.

Description

A hidden gem tucked away in Western Maryland! This park features a 53-acre lake and wooded trails, which are used for cross-country skiing in the winter and swimming, rowboats, canoes and paddle boats in the summer. Picnicking, hiking, tennis, volleyball are a few others activities enjoyed here. 20 furnished rustic log cabins can be rented year round. Popular special events such as maple syrup demonstrations, apple butter making and family fishing events are held throughout the year.

Alerts and Important Information
ALCOHOL POLICY:

The consumption or possession of an open container of an alcoholic beverage will be prohibited in all state park areas with the exception of interior areas of full-service cabins, motorhomes, and designated shelters. Permits may be issued upon request by the Park Manager for special events operating under a use agreement.

Alcohol Permits will only be issued through a reservation for a designated shelter, or other approved facility. A $35 non-refundable fee will be charged for each alcohol permit. Permits may be revoked for cause by Park Manager, their designee or a Natural Resource Police Officer.

Rt. 70 or 270 West to Frederick, Rt. 70 West to Hancock and Rt. 68. Rt. 68 west to exit 14 at Keysers Ridge and Rt. 219. Follow Rt. 219 south 19.5 miles to Mayhew Inn Road. Turn right on Mayhew Inn Road, travel 4.5 miles to end of road. At stop sign turn left, travel 0.3 miles to first road on right. Turn right onto Swallow Falls Road and travel 5.8 miles to the park.
From Pittsburgh/Morgantown:
Follow Rt. 79 south to Morgantown and Rt. 68 east to exit 14 and Rt. 219. Follow Rt. 219 south 19.5 miles to Mayhew Inn Road. Turn right on Mayhew Inn road, travel 4.5 miles to end of road. At stop sign turn left, travel 0.3 miles to first road on the right. Turn right and travel 5.8 miles to park.
