Description

Henry W. Coe State Park is primarily a wilderness park. Spring is the most popular time of year to visit with fabulous displays of wildflowers. Camping is permitted all year. There are numerous creeks and ponds, ranging from 2 to 22 miles from the Coe Ranch Entrance. Fishing is allowed in the park; Fish and Game regulations are enforced. Be prepared to hike or bike on dirt roads and trails. Vehicle access is restricted beyond park entrances.

Coe Ranch Campground: Drive-in camping is available at the Coe Ranch Entrance campground at the end of E. Dunne Avenue. The campground is located on top of an open ridge at 2,600 feet and has views across the ridges and canyons of the backcountry and into the southern part of Santa Clara Valley.

Group Camping: The park has eleven hike-in group campsites for groups of 9 to 50 people at some sites.

Equestrian Camping: Two Drive-in Horse Camps are available for reservation. The Coe Ranch Entrance Horse Camp is near the Visitor Center. The Blue Oak Horse Camp is located on the way to Manzanita Point. Trailers over 20 ft are not advised and goose-neck trailers are not allowed due to the narrow curvy road. No more than two rigs are allowed at Blue Oak Horse Camp. Extra vehicles and trailers can be parked in our overflow parking lot.

Discount Pass must be presented at the time of check in.

Your DMV Disabled Placard/License Plate does not automatically give you a discount on your campsite. You will need to obtain a CA State park-issued Disabled Discount Pass (DDP) or Distinguished Veterans Pass (DVP).

Road to the Park is narrow and winding; 30 minutes (13 miles) from Highway 101. NOT advisable for RV's over 20' in length; no pull through sites. Pit toilets ONLY.

  • BE AWARE this is Not Henry Cowell State Park. Henry Cowell is near the city of Santa Cruz. Henry Coe is 25 miles South East of San Jose.
  • Fees include entry for 1 vehicle and 1 legally towed vehicle or trailer, additional vehicles will be charged per night at the park.
  • Reservations available year-round.
  • Wood or charcoal campfires can be banned at any time due conditions at the park. Propane or white gas stoves are allowed. For the most current fire information go to http://www.parks.ca.gov/default.asp?page_id=561.
  • Ground fires and wood collection are NOT allowed anywhere in the park.

Getting There:

From Hwy 101 in Morgan Hill, drive east on East Dunne Ave. to the end of the road. It is 13 miles, but more importantly, 30 minutes, from the freeway to the park on a narrow winding road.
(NOT advised for RV's over 20' in length)
