Description

Green Lakes State Park's outstanding features are its two glacial lakes surrounded by upland forest. Both Round and Green Lakes are meromictic lakes, which means that there is no fall and spring mixing of surface and bottom waters. Such lakes have a high potential for evidence of ancient plant and animal life. Another special feature of the park is an 18-hole golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones, where visitors can snowshoe in winter, and there are 10 miles of trails that cross-country skiers can use.

Green Lakes State Park is located just east of the city of Syracuse, in upstate New York.

Park visitors enjoy biking, boating, fishing, golf, hiking, picnicking, camping, and wintertime cross-country skiing.

The park's facilities include a beach, rowboat rentals, cabins and campsites, food concessions, a golf course, trails, picnic tables and pavilions, a playground, showers, and dumping stations.

Nearby Attractions:

Old Erie Canal State Historic Park, Chittenango Falls State Park, Clark Reservation State Park, Verona Beach State Park, and Lorenzo State Historic Site are among the area's natural and historical attractions.

Each year the campground makes every effort to provide safe swimming opportunities by testing the water and by keeping the swimming areas staffed with lifeguards. Please be aware that if the safety of our swimmers is compromised, due to lack of lifeguard coverage or water quality issues, swimming will be prohibited and therefore cannot be a guaranteed activity. We apologize for this inconvenience as it may occur with little advance notice.

To insure fairness for all NY customers, any reservation with departure dates outside the 9-month Maximum Window can not be changed or cancelled until 18 days after the reservation was made.

Only 2 pets per site are permitted. Current rabies certificate required. Pets must be on a leash no longer than 6ft at all times. Rabies Tag is not accepted for proof of inoculation.

When biking, children under 18 must wear a helmet.

There is a carry in, carry out policy in effect for garbage in the day use area.

Swimming is permitted from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

Rowboat rentals run 11am to 7pm - Thursday through Monday. $5/hr with a $20 cash deposit.

Alcohol is permitted in certain areas, some restrictions apply.

Smoking is not permitted in the cabins.

No private boats allowed on lakes.

Laundry facilities are located approximately 2 miles from the park.

If patron is unable to arrive on arrival date, call the park office directly to let them know.

DURING PEAK - Cabins are 7 or 14 day reservations and run Sat. to Sat. only! Peak is from the end of June to the end of August. Peak season: A person may be the primary site occupant for 14 total days of camping within a 16 day period. S/he must leave the park for 48 hours once they have stayed the maximum number of days allowed before beginning a new reservation.
