This par 71, 6,904-yard track, set in a spectacular, wooded rolling terrain about 15 miles from Raleigh, North Carolina is a challenging and rewarding test for players of all skills levels since it opened in October 2000. Riverwood Golf Club is a championship layout set in the beautiful rolling terrain along the Neuse River in Clayton, NC. Golf Course Designer, David Postlethwait, created 27 holes of the most dramatic golf you can play in North Carolina. When Riverwood opened in 1997, North Carolina Magazine ranked it in the Top Ten Best New Courses in North Carolina.

Rated "Best greens in eastern Carolina" by Golf Digest's "Places to Play" the last 4 consecutive years. Naturally located on a hilly terrain with a wide, unmatched topographical range, the highest vantage points lend a dynamic view of the entire course. Hole designs are 1/2 scottish and 1/2 southern traditional with a couple of holes appearing like those from the mountainous region.

This is a challenging course, requiring some accuracy to score well. There are some mounds around the greens and in the fairways that can cause uneven lies. The greens are medium-sized and undulating, and some of the fairways are tight. There are water hazards that come into play on eight holes. Hole #15 is reachable with the driver, so go for it! The signature hole is #9, where a large creek comes into play on three different occasions.

This course was built on rolling terrain and features water hazards coming into play on several holes. There are numerous trees that can alter your shots on almost every hole. The signature hole is #13, a 365-yard, par 4, featuring a tall pine tree in the middle of its fairway.

Wil~Mar's original nine holes opened in 1961 when landowners William (Bill) and Mary Allen utilized the family farmland to venture into the golf business. In 1977, Mrs. Allen and her children expanded the course to an 18-hole layout. Still owned and operated by the Allen children, Wil~Mar's staff is genuinely delighted to offer a full-service golf facility to its customers.
