Alerts and Important Information

Site

You may have up to 15 people and 5 tents. There are no facilities at this campsite. Water must be carried in or gathered and purified. No vehicle access. No bicycle access. Backcountry campsites are located along a 23 mile trail. Campers must arrive 2 hours before dark to reach site before dark. No permits issued for night hikes. No camping outside designated campsites.

Park hours are 7 am - 10 pm and gates are locked from 10 pm - 7 am. Park office hours are 8 am to 5 pm (Mon-Thurs), 8 am to 10 pm (Fri) and 8 am to 6 pm (Sat. & Sun). Quiet hours are between 10 pm and 7 am. Radios, TV's, musical instruments, & all other noise-making devices are not to be used between 10 pm and 7 am and must be kept at a low volume at all other times. All group gatherings must conclude by 10 pm.

All campfires must be kept in designated areas such as fire rings.

Pets allowed and must be on a leash no longer than 6'. They must be accompanied by the owner at all times. Pets are not allowed in or around historic sites, cottages, lodges, group camps, swimming area. This policy does not apply to Service Animals. Owners should clean up after pets.

Any device that discharges projectiles by any means is prohibited

Children 15 and younger with bicycles and/or scooters, must wear helmets while riding in the park. Helmets available for rent at park office.

Consumption or use of alcoholic beverages or intoxicants is unlawful in any public-use area.

No check-ins will be allowed after 10 pm. Guest must check in at office for site assignment before setting up. A camper "no show" will be considered by 8 am the following morning and site will be released. If you do not arrive on the first night of your stay, you will be counted as a no-show, your reservation will be cancelled, and you will forfeit your deposit. Must arrive 2 hours before dark.

All vehicles on site must purchase and display a GA parkpass. Park roads are public roads. All vehicles are subject to license safety requirements and regulations of the Georgia Dept of Public Safety. Off-road vehicles and ATV's are not allowed in state parks.

Site

Must register & obtain permit from park office 1 hr prior to sundown & entering trail. Sites will be assigned by park staff with every effort made for site requests. For shuttle info call 706-663-4858. Backpackers may not start a trip if they cannot reach their 1st campsite by dark. Site will hold 15 people. $10 per person. After 5 people, rate becomes $45 flat. Rates do not include parkpass fees.
