PET POLICY:
Houck Area

  • Pets allowed only in Addison Run and Bear Branch camp loops.
  • Pets allowed on all trails (except Lower Trail to the Cunningham Falls (Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day).
  • Pets NOT permitted in camper cabins.
  • Pets allowed in all day-use areas and lake (except for sandy portion of swimming beach area) after Labor Day to Memorial Day weekend.

    GOLDEN AGE PASS:
    Persons 62 years of age and older with Maryland Park Service Golden Age Pass are entitled to half-price camping, Sunday-Thursday, exluding Holidays. Display of Golden Age Pass will be required upon check-in. Additional service charges will be applied if unable to provide proof of valid pass. Golden Age Pass requires a $10 fee.     GENERATORS:
    Generators are permitted, but all aspects of their use & operation must conform to the established quiet hours & all applicable safeguards designed to prevent disturbing other visitors & to preserve the peace & tranquility of the park environment.

    ALCOHOL POLICY:

    The consumption or possession of an open container of an alcoholic beverage will be prohibited in all areas of the park with the exception of interor areas of motorhomes.

    CAMPSITE INFORMATION:

  • TOTAL CAMPERS PER SITE: Maximum of 6 persons per campsite, including. Each campsite must be registered to and occupied by at least one adult 18 years of age or older for the entire length of stay.
  • MAXIMUM NUMBER OF VEHICLES PER SITE: Maximum of two vehicles per campsite. All vehicles must register at the Camp Office, and all vehicles must display pass and be parked on paved surfaces of campsite only. Vehicle cannot block or park on any portion of the roadway. Additional vehicles must park in overflow lot.
  • CAMPING UNITS PER CAMPSITE: There is a maximum of 2 tents or 1 wheeled unit permitted on each campsite. Maximum occupancy rules apply.
  • VEHICLE DAY USE ENTRY The camping service charge includes free access for 1 vehicle only per site into the lake area. Entry into the lake area is on a first come, first served for all park users. You will need to arrive early to ensure entry. Entry into the lake area may be denied if the area reaches capacity.

    CHECK IN, CHECK OUT AND OFFICE HOURS

  • CHECK IN:Check-in time begins at 3 pm and ends at 10 pm. You must register during office hours, no late arrivals permitted. No camper or visitor may enter without first checking in at the Camp Office.
  • CHECK OUT:Check out time is no later than 12 noon for camper cabins and 1 pm for campsites.
  • CAMP OFFICE HOURS:The Camp Office is open 8 am to 10 pm between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Check in during other times is subject to change. It is your responsibility to call and verify during other times..
  • WATER/DISHWASHING:
    There are general water spigots in the campground to fill RV's and water containers. There are no water hook-ups at the individual campsites. Dishwashing is not permitted in the bath houses. Containers can be filled at water hydrants for dishwashing at your site.

    FIREWOOD RESTRICTION:
    Due to the potential threat of the Emerald Ash Borer, the Maryland Department Natural Resources has prohibited the importation of personal firewood into all DNR owned and managed properties. Please do not bring firewood with you from home when visiting a DNR property.

    CAMPGROUND VISITORS:
    Visitors must pay a service charge and exit the campground by 10:00 pm.

    QUIET HOURS:
    Quiet time will be maintained in the campground from 10:00 pm to 7:00 am.

    Campfires:

  • All campfires must be completely contained within the fire ring provided at the campsite.
  • Dead and downed wood may be collected, chainsaw use is prohibited.
  • Campfires may be prohibited in times of high fire danger.
  • SWIMMING:
    Swimming opportunities are not always guaranteed at this time. It is your responsibility to call the park office at least two days prior to your arrival to check current swimming conditions. Be aware that the cancellation policy is in effect.

    MINIMUM STAY:
    There is a two night minimum weekend stay (Friday/Saturday) and a three night minimum stay on holiday weekends (Friday/Saturday/Sunday) Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day.
