2013 Reservation/Transaction Fees:

In addition to the park facility use fee, there is a nightly reservation/transaction fee. Internet reservations, the per night fee is $4.56. Call Center, the per night fee is $4.61. Walk-In transactions at the park, the per night fee is $4.51. Reservation/Transaction Fees are Non-Refundable.


Cancellation Fee Policy Change-Effective May 1, 2013:

To better serve our Maryland Park Service customers, we are changing our cancellation policy to a reservation cancellation service charge of $6 per reservation; except for Assateague Island State Park, which will remain at $6 per night.

Description

Enjoy the nature wonder of waterfalls! This park features a 78-foot cascading waterfall, mountain streams, winding trails and a scenic lake. The park's Manor Area offers picnicking, camping, a playground and a shelter that can be reserved. A 43-acre lake is located in the William Houck Area. Popular activities include swimming, boat rentals, hiking and camping.

PET POLICY:
Houck Area

  • Pets allowed in Addison Run and Bear Branch camp loops.
  • Pets allowed on all trails (except Lower Trail to the Cunningham Falls (Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day).
  • Pets not permitted in Camper Cabins.
  • Pets allowed in all day-use areas and lake (except for sandy portion of swimming beach area) after Labor Day to Memorial Day weekend.

    ALCOHOL POLICY:

    The consumption or possession of an open container of an alcoholic beverage will be prohibited in all state park areas with the exception of interior areas of full-service cabins and motorhomes.

    Alcohol permits will only be issued through a reservation for a designated shelter, or other approved facility. A $35 fee will be charged for each alcohol permit. Permits may be revoked for cause by Park Manager, their designee or a Natural Resources Police Officer.

    Internet shelter reservations requiring an alcohol permit will need to contact the Call Center at 1-888-432-2267, Mon-Fri, 8 am - 8 pm to make your reservation.

    Cunningham Falls State Park is located near Thurmont, MD approximately 18 miles north of Frederick, Maryland.

    From Baltimore: Follow I-70 west to Frederick and U.S 15 north to Thurmont. The Manor Area is located on Route 15 and will be on your left. To reach the William Houck Area continue to following 15 north to the exit for Route 77 and travel west. Turn left onto Catoctin Hollow Road, turn right onto William Houck Drive, turn left onto Campground Drive, and check in at the camper registration building.

    From Washington D.C: Follow I-270 north to Frederick, and U.S 15 north to Thurmont. The Manor Area is located on Route 15 and will be on your left. To reach the William Houck Area continue to following 15 north to the exit for Route 77 and travel west. Turn left onto Catoctin Hollow Road, turn right onto William Houck Drive, turn left onto Campground Drive, and check in at the camper registration building.

    From Pennsylvania: Follow U.S 15 south to Thurmont. To reach the William Houck Area take the exit for Route 77 and travel west. For the Manor Area continue on U.S 15 south the Manor Area is located on Route 15 and will be on the right.
