The Gold Rush to Columbia, California began on March 27, 1850 by a small party of prospectors. News of the discovery spread and they were soon joined by a flood of miners. Unlike many settlements that have changed with the times, Columbia, California seems to be frozen in the 1800's. Today, Columbia State Historic Park is the best preserved of California gold rush towns. As a popular destination for school living-history programs, special family gatherings, or a year-round getaway, Columbia State Historic Park offers a unique blend of museums, displays, town tours, live theater plays, shops, restaurants and attractions.

A visit to the Columbia City Hotel or Fallon Hotel in the Columbia State Historic Park is a glimpse into one of the most fascinating periods of America's history, as well as one of California's finest restorations.

Dine at the acclaimed City Hotel Restaurant or see the latest Sierra Repertory Theatre production at the historic Fallon Theatre. Visit the shops, catch a stage, or take a ghost tour of Columbia. There are five wineries within a fifteen minute drive, and Yosemite National Park is just over the hill. The area is also a prime spot for Antiquing, gold panning, and white water rafting.

The Columbia City Hotel and its sister, the Fallon Hotel, are authentically restored 19th Century country inns. All rooms are elegantly appointed with Victorian antiques, custom crafted wall coverings, and beautiful lithographs. Some of the rooms at each hotel have balconies where you can sit and enjoy the fresh air and watch the goings-on of an authentic Gold Rush Era town. Each hotel has a sitting parlour where you can peruse books and magazines, or participate in one of many board games. While both the Columbia City Hotel and Fallon Hotel stay as faithful to 19th century decor as possible, modern conveniences such as indoor plumbing, heating, and air conditioning have been added for your comfort. Each room has a half bath and a shower basket is provided for the trip down the hall to the shared shower room.

Cancellation Policy:

Hotels: Cancellations 2 or less days prior to arrival incur $7.50 cancellation fee + first night use fee.

Cottages: Cancellations 3 or less days prior to arrival incur $7.50 cancellation fee + first night use fee.

$7.50 cancellation fee applies to all other cancellations.

Cottages Only:

Cottages have a 2-night minimum on weekends.
