CIMARRON CAMPGROUND, NM

OverviewCimarron Campground is located in the scenic Valle Vidal within Carson National Forest in northern New Mexico, at an elevation of 9,300 feet. The sites are tucked among spruce, aspen and fir trees, and the camp offers an open range feel.
Visitors have opportunities to enjoy a variety of recreational activities in a picturesque setting. Viewing wildlife and simply relaxing in the mountain air are popular activities.
Some of the finest mountain scenery in the Southwest is found in the 1.5 million acres within the Carson National Forest. Elevations range from 6,000 feet to 13,161 feet at Wheeler Peak, the highest in New Mexico.
Anglers can fish for Rio Grande cutthroat trout in Comanche Creek and the Rio Pueblo. Nearby Shuree Ponds offers excellent fishing. The smaller pond is a fishing hole for kids 12 and under. The main pond is stocked with rainbow trout and is also popular for float tubing.
The campground contains 36 overnight campsites, which includes nine horse sites, two double sites and 25 single-family sites. Accessible vault toilets and drinking water are provided.

From Las Vegas, NM, take NM-434 North to US-64 East. Turn left at NM-38 West. Turn right at E Moreno Ranch Road and continue onto Mills Divide Road for 0.8 miles. Turn right and then left toward FR 1913. Take first right onto FR 1913. Follow FR 1913 for 5 miles, then turn left onto FR 1910 and go 6.3 miles to the campground.
From Santa Fe, NM, follow Highway 285 North to NM-68 North. Turn right at NM-585 East. Turn right at US-64 East, and follow to the junction with NM-38 West, turning left onto NM-38. Turn right at E Moreno Ranch Road and continue onto Mills Divide Road for 0.8 miles. Turn right and then left toward FR1913. Take first right onto FR 1913. Follow FR 1913 for 5 miles, then turn left onto FR 1910 and go 6.3 miles to the campground.
From Taos, NM, take US-64 E/Kit Carson Road 17.3 miles. Turn right to stay on US-64 E for 13.5 miles, then turn left onto NM-38 W and drive 7.3 miles. Turn right onto E Moreno Ranch Rd. and go 3 miles. Continue onto Mills Divide Road for 0.8 miles, turn right and then left toward FR 1913. Take first right onto FR 1913. Follow FR 1913 for 5 miles, then turn left onto FR 1910 and go 6.3 miles to the campground.
From Costilla, NM, head NE on Upper Plaza Road toward NM-196 N. Turn right onto NM-196 S and drive for 14.8 miles. Make a slight left and drive for 3.8 miles. Turn right toward FR 1950 and drive for 8.1 miles. Continue straight onto FR 1950 and go 1.2 miles, then turn right onto FR 1910. Continue 0.8 mile to campground.
