OverviewChilcoot Campground is one of five campgrounds in the popular Frenchman Lake Recreation Area of northern California's Plumas National Forest. The campground is far enough away from the lake that visitors can experience the serene sense of solitude that the remote mountain setting provides.Natural Features:The campground stretches along the babbling Last Chance Creek, an alpine freshwater stream that flows directly into the Frenchman Lake. Recreation:During the summer the campground offers a variety of outdoor experiences including hiking, biking, picnicking and hunting. The nearby lake provides ample opportunities for swimming, boating, water skiing and jet skiing. Facilities:The campground provides multiple single-family campsites. Several sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis. The campground is open for tent and RV camping, although some sites are only equipped to handle tents.
