Alerts and Important Information
Alcoholic beverages, fireworks, firearms and other weapons are prohibited in the park.
Firearms and other weapons are prohibited except that those with a
proper permit may possess a concealed handgun in permitted areas and
under the requirements of North Carolina law. All firearms and weapons
are prohibited in state park visitor centers and park offices.
Campers must check in at the marina before setting up on their campsite.
You may not gather firewood in the park.
Fires must be attended at all times by a person 16 years of age or older and completely extinguished before leaving camp.
No vehicular access in or out after closing hours.
Generators are allowed but must be turned off during quiet hours. A dump station is provided in the campground.
"Pets are allowed except in park buildings. They must be on a leash no longer than six feet and cannot be left unattended. All pets should have current rabies vaccination. Owners are responsible for cleaning up after their pets.
"Visitors must be out of the park by closing time. Visitors are not allowed to use the shower facilities.
Campsites must be vacated no later than 3:00 p.m.
Maximum number of people per site is 6. Tents/camping equipment must be set up on tent pads where available. Tents/camping equipment must not be set up off of the campsite in the surrounding vegetation. Campers may not leave the site unattended overnight or for more than 12 hours.
Drinking water is located nearby and restrooms with hot showers are centrally located.
Quiet hours are 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM. No generators, loud music or loud talking allowed during these hours. Posted quiet hours are enforced.
North Carolina state park rules and regulations are posted in each park and enforced by rangers. A copy of the rules and regulations are available at the marina and/or visitor center. Violating these rules and regulations is a misdemeanor and may result in a fine and revocation of permit.
State vehicle and traffic laws are enforced. The park wide speed limit is 25 mph. The campground speed limit is 15 mph.
Unlicensed vehicles, motorcycles, golf carts, ATV's and mini-bikes are prohibited with the exception of mobility-aid devices used by a mobility-impaired person. All vehicles are prohibited from walkways, trails and other areas not designated for such purposes.
Bicycles are not allowed on any trail within the park. There is a town maintained bike path just outside the park gate.
No more than two vehicles are allowed per site. Sites having more than two vehicles must park them in a designated parking lot. All vehicles must be registered at the visitor center and display a parking pass. Parking is prohibited along road shoulders, in the woods and on unoccupied campsites.
"North Carolina state parks are wildlife sanctuaries; no hunting is allowed and collecting plants, minerals and artifacts is prohibited. State fishing regulations are enforced. A North Carolina Coastal Recreation Fishing License is required to fish in the park and surrounding areas.
