Calaveras Big Trees State Park features two giant groves of some of the oldest living redwoods trees in California. Located on the western slope of Sierra Nevada, the park includes a visitor center. Beaver Creek tumbles through acres of pine trees. The two groves of Big Trees survived heavy 19th century logging. A nature trail guides visitors on an easy stroll through the grove. Other areas of the park provide places for picnicking, fishing and hiking - including a magnificent view of the Sierra Nevada.

Alerts and Important Information

For June arrivals and thereafter, the campsites have changed, so please check your site number because they have been renumbered.

Reservations for arrival after June 1, 2012 will be for a specific site. For more information, questions, or concerns, please call park staff at 209/795-2334.

Discount Pass must be presented at the time of check in.

Your DMV Disabled Placard/License Plate does not automatically give you a discount on your campsite. You will need to obtain a CA State park-issued Disabled Discount Pass (DDP) or Distinguished Veterans Pass (DVP).

Maximum number of vehicles is 2. Note: Camping reservation fee includes one vehicle (car, truck, or RV and one legally towed vehicle/trailer). Once on the campsite, the towed vehicle/trailer counts as a vehicle towards the maximum number of vehicles per campsite. All additional vehicles (3rd) will need to pay the extra vehicle fees and will need to be parked in the extra vehicle parking areas, not on the campsite. Please lock and secure all vehicles to protect your valuables.

ATVs are not permitted to operate within the Calaveras Big Trees State Park. All roadways are State Highways, and all DMV and California Vehicle Codes apply.

California State law requires children under 18 to wear bicycle helmets while riding bicycles, scooters, in-line skates, roller skates, and skate boards (CVC 21212(a)).

To book a Group site you must have at least NINE occupants.,

Getting There:

The park is northeast of Stockton, four miles northeast of Arnold on Highway 4.
