Butano State Park is a 3,200-acre redwood park in the Santa Cruz Mountains, featuring excellent hiking through the redwood groves. Only three miles from the coast, the park's trails offer views of the ocean.

Alerts and Important Information

Discount Pass must be presented at the time of check in.

Your DMV Disabled Placard/License Plate does not automatically give you a discount on your campsite. You will need to obtain a CA State park-issued Disabled Discount Pass (DDP) or Distinguished Veterans Pass (DVP).

Fees include entry for 1 vehicle and 1 legally towed vehicle or trailer, additional vehicles will be charged per night at the park.

Parking for walk-in sites is limited to one (1) vehicle.

Trail Camp sites are 1st come/1st served only. They are hike-in only.

Reservation Period

Drive-in sites (Standard and Tent):

  • Reservations available May 1 - October 31
  • 1st-1st when not on reservations for April 1 - 30 and November 1 - 30
  • Closed when not on reservations from December 1 through March 31 of the following year

  • Reservations available May 1 - October 31
  • 1st-1st when not on reservations for April 1 - 30 and November 1 - 30
  • Closed when not on reservations from December 1 through March 31 of the following year
  • Getting There:

    The park is located five miles south of Pescadero, on Cloverdale Road, and off Highway One from Gazos Creek Road.
