ALL (31) OverviewBroad River Campground is located on the south bank of its namesake river, where it joins the Savannah River on J. Strom Thurmond Lake. Both rivers and the 70,000 acre lake provide excellent boating, fishing and hiking opportunities.Natural Features:Hot, humid summers and mild, pleasant winters characterize this heavily wooded area on the shore of Thurmond Lake. A mixed pine and hardwood forest covers the site, providing summer shade and fall color. Recreation:Thurmond Lake provides some of the best fishing, hunting, and water sports in the southeastern United States. Anglers fish for largemouth bass, bream, crappie, catfish and striped bass. The large lake offers endless boating, water skiing, jet skiing, canoeing and swimming opportunities. Facilities:This campground contains 31 double family sites with electrical and water hookups. Most sites are on the waterfront. Other amenities include flush toilets, drinking water, showers and a dump station. Nearby Attractions:This quiet, rural area is very historic. The now-flooded town of Petersburg and the Nancy Hart Historical Site in Elbert County are nearby. The campground is 20 miles southeast of Elberton, Georgia, known as the Granite Capital of the World. Activities and Amenities

Follow HWY 72 (toward Calhoun Falls) 11 miles to HWY 79. Turn right and follow HWY 79 approximately 10 miles. Cross the Broad River and the campground will be on your left.
