DescriptionThis park is Blue Spring located in Volusia County on the St. Johns River near Orange City, Florida. This Park is 140 miles and a three-hour drive from Lafayette Blue Springs State Park near Mayo, Florida. Please make sure you are reserving for the correct Blue Springs State Park. Blue Spring is the winter home (November-March) for an ever-increasing population of the endagered Florida manatee, as well as being a favorite recreation area. Popular activities include swimming, fishing, canoeing, and camping. Visitors may hike the 4-mile trail through pine flatwoods and cypress swamp, or marvel at the 1872 Thursby House that sits atop an ancient Timucuan shell midden. Blue Spring is a designated manatee refuge. To Provide a safe warm water refuge for manatees during the winter season, the spring and the spring run is closed to all water related activities including swimming, snorkeling, and scuba diving and boating from November 15 through March 1. Getting There:Take exit 114 off Interstate 4 and follow the signs. Go south on 17-92 to Orange City, about 2.5 miles. Make a right onto West French Avenue.
