Description

Two forks of the Black River flow through this State Forest. High sandstone abutments overlook nearly 68,000 acres of pine and oak forest.

Alerts and Important Information
Reservations are now being taken for Castle Mound from May 24th through September 2nd. Construction of a new public entrance visitor station will cause the campground to being temporarily closed this fall starting September 4th.

There are four different campgrounds that are reservable; Castle Mound, East Fork, Pigeon Creek and the Indoor Group Camp.

The Service and Amenities Listed are for the Castle Mound Campground.

East Fork does not have a dump station, flush toilets, handicap access, shelter or showers.

Getting There:

Castle Mound: From I-94, take Black River Falls Exit 116, travel west on Hwy 54 into Black River Falls. Drive to the third set of traffic lights. Turn left (south) onto Hwy 12/27. Then turn left (east) onto Hwy 12. The campground is located approximately one mile east on Hwy 12.

East Fork/Group Camp: From I 94, take exit 116 onto Highway 54 and proceed east 7.4 miles and turn left (north) onto Cemetery Road. At four miles when Cemetery Road ends take a right onto Old Highway 54. Travel 0.5 miles and take a left onto Campground Road. After 1.5 miles the Group Camp will be on the left, 1/2 a mile past this is East Fork Campground.

Pigeon Creek: From I-94, take Millston Exit 128. Travel East on County Rd O for approximately 1/4 mile, then turn left onto N Settlement Rd. Campground is located two miles N on N Settlement Rd.
