QUIET HOURS:
Quiet time will be maintained in the campground from 10:00 pm to 7:00 am.
CAMPING SEASON:
Big Run State Park is open for primitive camping year-round. However, there are no services provided during winter months, including snow removal. Winter/ cold-weather camping is permitted at your own risk.
CHECK-IN:
Campers are required to arrive and set up prior to 10 PM.
SITE AMENITIES:
The Youth Group Camping Area is primitive. The site contains a fire ring and picnic tables. Waterless restroom facilities are located within a short walking distance. There is no potable water at Big Run State Park. Big Run is a Trash-Free park– pack out what you pack in.

NO ALCOHOL PERMITTED:
No alcohol permitted in Youth Group camping area.
VEHICLE and EQUIPMENT:
Vehicles and camping equipment must remain on the campsite pad or driveway.
BOATING:
The Savage River Reservoir is adjacent to Big Run State Park. A boat launch area is available for small watercraft, including kayaks, canoes, and rowboats. Gas motors are prohibited. Swimming is prohibited.
RANGER STATION:
The Ranger Station for Big Run State Park is located at New Germany State Park, 349 Headquarters Lane, Grantsville, Maryland 21536. Phone: 301-895-5453. Hours: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM, daily.
PETS:
Pets are permitted and must be kept on lease at all times.

FISHING:
A valid Maryland fishing license is required for individuals 16 years of age or older. License may be purchased at the Ranger Station.
WILDLIFE INFORMATION:
The forest land around the park is home to black bears. They have been known to travel through the campground and picnic area looking for an easy meal. PLEASE do not leave any food unattended.
FIREWOOD RESTRICTION:
Due to the potential threat of the Emerald Ash Borer, the Maryland Department of Natural Resources has prohibited the importation of personal firewood into all DNR owned and managed properties. Please DO NOT bring firewood with you from home when visiting a DNR property. Firewood is available for purchase at the Ranger Station.
