As the nation's largest federal provider of outdoor and water-based recreation, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers invites you and your family to have a safe and enjoyable visit to one of the Corps' more than 400 lakes and more than 2,400 recreation sites nationwide. During your visit to these sites or the thousands of other federal lands and waters, we encourage you and your loved ones to always wear a properly fitted life jacket when boating or playing on or near the water. We need your help to reduce the number of water-related injuries and deaths. Visitor safety is the Corps' number one priority. We actively promote water and boater safety and education programs. BIG HART CAMPGROUND (GA), GADescriptionBig Hart Campground is located at the confluence of Big Creek and Hart Creek on the western end of beautiful J. Strom Thurmond Lake, the largest Corps of Engineers lake project east of the Mississippi River.Twelve miles from Thomson, Georgia, and approximately 40 miles from Augusta, Georgia, this campground has 24 water/electric hook-ups, and 7 non-hook-up sites, all spacious and shaded. The campground is adjacent to Big Hart Recreation Area, with a swimming beach, playground, and boat ramp. Big Hart features a group tent area, which includes a large picnic shelter with 30 amp electrical service. Services & Amenities:
