Big Bay State Park is located on Madeline Island. You must catch a ferry from Bayfield. The ferries run every 30 minutes during the busiest months. Ferry schedule & costs can be found at the Madeline Island Ferry Line Website No reservations are needed for the ferry, but are recommended for camping.

Setting up your campsite is not allowed between 11:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. Parking is available for a maximum of two vehicles including towed vehicles. Dogs must be on leash and attended at all times. Dogs are not allowed on the beach or boardwalk. Generator use is not allowed in the park. Vehicle admission stickers are required.



This shaded site has a dirt camping pad. The single-wide, gravel, driveway is level. The 2,350-acre park, has picturesque sandstone bluffs, caves and a 1.5-mile sand beach. The park has picnic areas with tables, grills, water and toilets; a campground with drinking water, showers and toilets; and more than nine miles of trails, including interesting nature trails. There are no campsites with lake frontage. The campground is set back from the lake approximately 1/3 of a mile. All campers walk to the beach.
