Located 7 miles south of Carlinville, IL this 750 acre Park offers Camping, Hiking, and Fishing at it's best. First time visitors at Beaver Dam have often refered to it as a HIDDEN GEM in Central Macoupin County. The number of repeat campers speaks for itself as to the quality of camping here at Beaver Dam. Good food and service keeps the Restaurant/Concessions Stand very busy throughout the season. If you like to camp among the Hickory and Oak trees in a quiet majestic setting we suggest you visit Beaver Dam State Park.

  • Shelter Reservations are non-refundable unless the area is closed by the Department, in this circumstance the Site Manager will contact you prior to your reservation date to cancel and issue your refund.
  • A responsible adult (18 years of age or older) from the camping party must register for the party and thereby acknowledge compliance with the rules and regulations of the park for the party.
  • During the off season, campers should call the park 3 days prior to arrival.
  • RESPONSIBLE use of Alcohol is allowed in the Park.
  • All on-line Administrative Rules apply.
  • Firewood Ban: It is illegal to bring or possess on IDNR properities any firewood from out-of-state or from a quarantine area or adjacent counties where wood exportation or movement has been prohibited by State or Federal Law.
  • There is firewood for sale at the Campground Host site.
  • Speed limits in the park are Posted and Strictly Enforced
  • Tent camping at marked (T) camping sites only and other Class A sites approved by site personnel
  • For a campsite, a "Single Family" consisting of 4 related adults with or without children occupying the same shelter are allowed; or a "Single Group" consisting of 4 unrelated adults with or without children occupying the same shelter are allowed.

    Located 7 miles south of Carlinville, IL. on the Shipman Backtop (SB) From I-55 take Hwy 108 west into Carlinville. Go straight through town to the 4th Stop Sign (T-intersection), turn left, you will be on the SB.
