Firewood Alert: Because of the seriousness of a potential infestation from the Emerald Ash Borer, we are requesting that no firewood be brought into South Carolina State Parks from outside of the state.

The Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) is a destructive invasive exotic beetle that feeds on ash trees. Park campgrounds and picnic areas are the most likely areas for EAB introduction into South Carolina. We appreciate your help in protecting the natural resources of South Carolina and our State Park System.

Description

Developed primarily for and offering among the best public access on Lake Thurmond, Baker Creek provides water recreational opportunities near scenic lakeside campsites. The lakefront pavilion accommodates large group gatherings. The 10-mile mountain bike trail also opens up the park's vistas of serene Piedmont forest, land and waterfowl and wildlife.

Alerts and Important Information
  • Pets are allowed in most outdoor areas provided they are kept under physical restraint or on a leash not longer than six feet.
  • No one under the age of 18 may register or reserve a campsite.
  • Alcoholic beverages are prohibited.
  • Campers arriving after operational hours should make gate arrangements with park office.
  • Quiet hours are from 10PM - 7AM.
  • Please contact the park to reserve ADA (Disabled Access) Standard and Full Service sites.

    Baker Creek is located four miles west of McCormick on US Hwy 378. Driving Directions: From McCormick: take US Hwy 378 W for 3 miles, take a right at the park sign, travel 1 mile, then take a left at the park entrance.
