Description

This park has 1,062 acres of primarily young, rich forests and open praire, on a 6,300 acre man-made lake. It attracts hikers, campers, recreational boaters and anglers after walleyes, muskies, and bass.

Sites 1 - 9 are on 1st come / 1st served basis year round. All other campsites are available 1st come / 1st served at the park if not reserved. These sites can not be held by calling the park. The camper can call the Park to see what sites are open only for the day you call.

  • 2009 Reservations: 05/01/2009 - 10/01/2009.
  • Winter camping allowed, however, park roads are not plowed and campsites are not maintained. Pack-in camping is allowed. Usually the snow gets too deep to drive around November 15th, and stays that way until March 15th.
  • The shower buildings, water fountains, and dumping stations are closed during the winter months due to freezing temperatures, (normally the right loop shower building opens on May 1st. The left loop shower building opens as camper numbers increase.) Pit toilets are open.
  • No campsites are situated on the lake. A 30 foot wooded bluff lies between the campsites and the lake.
  • There are no overnight camping facilities for campers with horses.
  • There are no water hook-up sites in the park.
  • Only a trailer dumping station is available.
  • Site 27: Hiking trail runs directly behind this campsite.

    Lake Wissota State Park is located approximately 7 miles northeast Chippewa Falls.

    From Hwy 53 North, take exit 99 (Hwy S). Travel east on county Hwy S for about 5.5 miles. Cross the bridge over Lake Wissota and turn right on county Hwy O. Drive east 2 miles on Hwy O; the park entrance is on the right.

    From Hwy 29 West, exit on Hwy 178. Travel north for about 2.5 miles to County Hwy S. Travel east on County Hwy S for about 2 miles. Cross the bridge over Lake Wissota and turn right on county Hwy O. Drive east 2 miles on Hwy O; the park entrance is on the right.

    From Hwy 29 East, exit on county Hwy X. Follow X west until Hwy K. Drive north (right) on county Hwy K, then west (left) on county Hwy O to park entrance on the left.
