Description

East Canyon Reservoir is nestled in the mountains northeast of Salt Lake City on State Routes 65 and 66. Although popular with water recreationists, East Canyon is also an attraction for history buffs. Nearby trails mark the steps of the Donner Party and the first Mormon settlers. The main campground is located at the northern end of reservoir. The boat launch ramp is located near the campground. Campfire programs are held each weekend from Memorial Day through Labor Day. A large primitive campground is located at the southern end of the reservoir, with plenty of room for overflow campers. A concessionaire provides boat rentals and refreshments.

  • Group reservations are accepted up to 11 months in advance of park departure date. A $10.25 non-refundable reservation fee is charged for group sites and building rentals.

  • A minimum, non-refundable fee, will be charged at the time the reservation is made.

From Salt Lake City: Take Interstate 80 east for six miles, take the Emigration/East Canyon Exit, then 21 miles northeast on State Road 65, then a mile west on State Road 66 (north end of reservoir).

From Ogden: Go 17 miles east on Interstate 84 to the Morgan Exit 103, then south on State Road 66, 14 miles southeast on State Road 66 (one mile past the dam) to the entrance.
