Description

Moffitt Beach Campground sits next to picturesque Sacandage Lake. At an elevation of 1,730 feet above sea level, the area is generally flat and well-wooded, with large white pines and hardwoods. Campsites at the water's edge and excellent naturalist programs draw visitors to the campground.

Geography:

Moffitt Beach Campground is located in the central portion of the Adirondack Park.

Recreation:

The campground offers an organized recreation activity program daily in the summer, with nature hikes, crafts, games, and live entertainment. Children may also participate in the Junior Naturalist Program. Boating, fishing, hiking, swimming, and picnicking are other favorite activities here.

Facilities:

The park offers campsites, restrooms, showers, and a picnic area with tables and fireplaces, some of which are accessible for those with mobility impairments. Other amenities include a trailer dump station, a recycling center, a boat launch, and a sand beach with a guarded swimming area (open in the summer).

CAMPGROUND SPECIFIC INFORMATION
  • Due to Spring construction the Siberia section (Sites 176-260) will be closed to NEW RESERVATIONS through 5/25/09
  • Memorial Day Weekend Only:In our continuing effort to provide you with a safe and enjoyable experience within our public campgrounds, the following Special Rules and Regulations will be in effect for Memorial Day weekend. Alcohol permit required if quantities exceed 1 case of beer, 1 liter of liquor, or 2 liters of wine per site. PROHIBITED: Beer Balls and Beer Kegs All campers must wear camper ID bracelets provided at registration throughout the stay. No visitors or day-users between 8:00 pm and 8:00 am
TO ENSURE FAIRNESS-For all NY customers, any reservation with a departure date outside the 9 Month Maximum Window can not be changed or cancelled until 18 days after the reservation was made
WHEN YOU ARRIVE-You must sign for your own site. Have your equipment with you and be ready to camp when you register. The names of all campers staying on a site must be listed on the camping permit when you first register at the facility
CHECK-IN TIME-Is from 12:00 noon until 9:00 p.m. Campers must register for their campsite by 9:00 p.m. on the first night of their reservation or the campsite will be subject to re-rental and all fees will be forfeited
CHECK-OUT TIME-Is 11:00 a.m. on your departure date
OCCUPANCY-Is limited to 6 individuals per campsite and 2 tents or 1 unit of hard wheeled camping equipment and 1 tent. Only 2 vehicles are permitted on any campsite. Extra vehicles will be required to park in a designated area (additional fees will apply)
AGE REGULATIONS-Every campsite must be registered and occupied by a responsible person 18 years of age or older
LENGTH OF STAY-Your camping permit can be issued for a maximum of 2 weeks. From July 1 through Labor Day, only 14 cumulative nights of camping will be permitted at any campground.
QUIET HOURS-Are from 10 p.m. until 7 a.m., and are strictly enforced. Violators of this policy may be evicted
GENERATORS-The use of electric generators may be limited to no more than 5 hours per day and fall between the hours of 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. daily
FIRES-Must be built in fireplaces provided. Only dead and down wood may be used for fuel. No chainsaws are allowed in campgrounds, and cutting down trees, alive or dead is prohibited.
FIREARMS-Are not allowed in campgrounds except during the Fall and Spring hunting seasons. Firearms must not be discharged within campground boundaries at any time
ACCESSIBLE SITES-At least one member of the camping party staying on the site must be mobility impaired (i.e. in a wheelchair or uses a walker) or the camping party may be turned away at the campground
SWIMMING-Is allowed at campgrounds with supervised bathing areas during designated hours when a lifeguard is on duty. Please note that there may be times when lifeguards are unavailable, and for the safety of our customers these beaches will not be open and swimming will be prohibited. Not all campground locations offer swimming, to inquire please contact the campground directly
PETS-Are allowed with proof of a currently valid rabies vaccination. Campers can walk dogs on a leash no longer than six feet as long as the animal is under control. Dogs cannot be left unattended and are not allowed in facility structures, on the beach or in day use areas
CANCELLATIONS-To cancel more than 2 days prior to your arrival date cancel online or by calling 1-800-456-2267. To cancel a reservation within 2 days of your arrival contact the campground directly
REFUNDS - Will not be issued except in cases of bona fide emergencies. Supporting documentation will be required. Refunds are not issued directly at campgrounds

From NYS Thruway (I-90): Take Exit 27 at Amsterdam and follow Route 30 north approximately 50 miles, to the Village of Speculator. Turn left on Route 8, travel west 2 miles, and turn right onto Page St., after the sign. The campground is one mile down, on the left. From NYS Thruway (I-90): Take Exit 31 at Utica, and proceed north on Route 8 approximately 65 miles. The campground is on the left.
