Description

Max V. Shaul State Park is a small, quiet camping area with 30 wooded tent and trailer sites. The park has shady picnic grounds, as well as playing fields. There is a nature and hiking trail, fishing is allowed in Panther Creek and winter visitors can cross-country ski. The park's proximity to Mine Kill State Park opens many more recreational opportunities to campers including an Olympic-sized swimming pool, hiking trails, boating by permit and Mine Kill Falls overlook.

Max V. Shaul State Park is located in the Schoharie Valley at the base of Toepath Mountain.

Recreation:

Fishing, hiking, camping, picnicking, and wintertime cross-country skiing are popular activities here.

Facilities:

Campsites with showers, a nature trail, a playground, and picnic tables are available, most of which are accessible to disabled visitors.

Mine Kill State Park, John Boyd Thacher State Park, Thompson's Lake State Park, Grafton Lakes State Park, and Glimmerglass State Park are all nearby.

Max V. Shaul will be open from May 28 - 30, 2010 and July 2 - September 6, 2010
To insure fairness for all NY customers, any reservation with departure dates outside the 9-month Maximum Window can not be changed or cancelled until 18 days after the reservation was made.

  • Pets must have proof of current rabies innoculation and be leashed at all times.
  • Permits are required for alcohol use at the park.
  • Fires must be attended at all times. Propane gas is available in Cobleskill.
  • Quiet time is from 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
  • There is a caretaker on call 24 hours. Pay phones are located near the park office.

    Peak season: A person may be the primary site occupant for 14 total days of camping within a 16 day period. S/he must leave the park for 48 hours once they have stayed the maximum number of days allowed before beginning a new reservation.
