Max reservation window: Sat Aug 21 2010   Later Dates

Description

Lake Durant Campground is located on the east shore of 327-acre Lake Durant. The remote Central Adirondack setting of this facility offers a relaxing, quiet beauty and breathtaking views of Blue Mountain. The large, forested campsites offer privacy, and the campground offers a variety of recreational opportunities, including canoeing and boating, fishing, hiking, and bicycling.

Geography:

Lake Durant Campground is located on Lake Durant in the Adirondacks.

Recreation:

Boating (please note that smaller boats are recommended as the man-made lake is shallow), fishing, and hiking are popular activities here. Fish in the lake include tigermuskey, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, sunfish, white sucker, brown bullheads, and brook trout. The campground has an accessible fishing pier. Due to its location on the Northville-Placid Trail, there are wilderness trails from the campsite to several ponds in the area.

Facilities:

The park offers tent and trailer sites, a picnic area with tables and fireplaces, flush toilets, hot showers, a trailer dump station, a recycling center, handicapped accessibility, a sand beach, a bathhouse, and hiking trails.

Nearby Attractions:

The Adirondack Park Visitors Interpretive Center at Newcomb is 25 miles east on N.Y.S. Route 28. The Adirondack Museum at Blue Mountain Lake is located 2 miles north on N.Y.S. Route 28 and features the History of the Adirondack Park.
