Overview

Whiting Campground is located in Maple Canyon, just 3 miles from the town of Mapleton, Utah, at an elevation of 5,400 feet. Visitors enjoy hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding.

Natural Features:

A dense, shady grove of maple and cottonwood trees provides pleasant shade and beautiful fall color. Summer wildflowers are plentiful. A perennial creek runs along the campground.

Recreation:

Maple Canyon Trail, for hiking, mountain biking, dirt biking and horseback riding, begins nearby. It leads to a small network of trails with scenic mountain and canyon views.

Facilities:

The campground contains group, single-family and equestrian sites. One group site can accommodate up to 100 people, the other up to 200 people. Both sites are equipped with picnic tables, grills, campfire rings and cement site pads.

Single and equestrian sites have picnic tables, campfire rings and cement site pads. Equestrian sites also have hitching racks. Vault toilets and drinking water are provided.

Know Before You Go

Caution: Bears frequent the area; be aware, keep a clean camp and store all food items in closed containers
No water, electric or sewer hookups available
This is a "pack it in, pack it out" facility; please bring garbage bags
Campers without horses can reserve equestrian sites
Horse trailers cannot be parked on-site; they must be parked in a designated area about a mile from the campground
A per-day, per-vehicle fee will be collected onsite for extra vehicles
Off-road vehicles are not permitted
This campground has first-come, first-served sites

Trailers/Campers and RVs: Please fill up with water before arriving on site. There is no place to fill-up on site and hooking up to spigots is not allowed.

From I-15, take Springville exit 260. Head east 2 miles to the intersection of Main Street and 400 South. Turn right on Main Street, staying in the right lane toward Highway 89/Price. Continue 2.3 miles to Maple Street. Turn left on Maple Street/State Highway 147 for .9 miles to Main Street in Mapleton. Turn left on Main Street, then right on 400 North. Drive east on 400 North for 2.7 miles to the campground.
