Overview

Bear Creek Campground lies southwest of the bustling city of Fort Worth, Texas. The campground sits along the lake for serene views of the water. Wildlife like deer, red-shouldered hawks, barred owls and woodpeckers can be spotted around the lake.

Natural Features:

The campground is perched between Benbrook Lake and the channel of Bear Creek. The lake, on the Clear Fork of the Trinity River, lies in the Grand Prairie region of north central Texas. Benbrook is partially within the city limits of Fort Worth, where there is easy access to urban amenities.

Recreation:

Visitors enjoy boating, picnicking, hiking and fishing. The lake is a noted fossil-hunting location, with opportunities to find fossilized sea life from the Late Cretaceous Period, dating back about 85 million years ago.

Bear Creek is also in close proximity to baseball fields, golf courses and horseback riding trails.

Facilities:

The campground offers 40 reservable sites with electric and water hookups. Additional amenities include hot showers, flush toilets and boat ramps at either end of the park. Campsites are level, open spaces.

Nearby Attractions:

Fort Worth hosts an annual stock show and rodeo. It is also home to a lovely botanical garden and zoo plus two world-renowned museums, the Amon Carter and Kimball Art Museums.

From Interstate 20, take exit 429A for Highway 377 and go south 6 for miles. Turn left onto FM Road 1187 and continue for a mile, then turn left onto Ben Day-Murrin Road and continue for 1.5 miles to the campground entrance.
