Myles Standish State Forest, MADescriptionSprawling across the southern sections of Plymouth and Carver, Myles Standish State Forest is the largest publicly owned recreation area in southeastern Massachusetts. Myles Standish campsites are tucked into the forest or set along the edges of four of the park's 16 ponds. Miles of trails lead visitors into a forest, which includes one of the largest contiguous pitch pine / scrub oak communities north of Long Island. The forest offers 35 miles of equestrian trails and 13 miles of hiking trails. For our bicycle riders there are 15 miles of paved bicycle trails. Services & Amenities:
Alerts and Important InformationCharge Pond Horse Loop C is for horse camping only. Campers without horses may camp in other areas of Myles Standish. Water spigots are located along the C Horse Loop and at the restroom building. Each horse site is large enough to hold a trailer and has room to set up a corral. Each horse site can house 2-3 horses. Coggins papers and your horse are required at check-in IMPORTANT: Beginning in the 2010 camping season, MA State Parks prohibits the transportation of firewood into or out of MA State Park Campground facilities. Firewood will be available at the campground for a donation of $5.00 per bundle. Transportation of firewood into or out of MA State Park Campground facilities may result in eviction, or substantial fine, or both. Alcoholic beverages are prohibited in all Massachusetts State Parks and Campgrounds. The reservation must be in the name of the primary occupant. To insure fairness for all MA customers, any reservation with departure dates outside the 6-month Maximum Window cannot be changed or canceled until 18 days after the reservation was made. If you choose to cancel or change your reservation, a $10.00 fee will be charged. The reservation transaction charge is non-refundable. Cancellations made on the day of arrival must be made by contacting the campground and will result in the loss of the first night's camping use fee plus the $10.00 cancellation fee. Fees will be deducted from any refunds due or will be added to future reservations. Refunds of $5.00 or less cannot be processed. If you leave early, please check-out at the contact station. If you are unable to arrive on your scheduled arrival date, you must call the campground. Failure to contact the park by 8:00 A.M. the morning following your scheduled arrival date may result in your campsite being reassigned to another camper and forfeiture of all fees paid. Getting There:Myles Standish State ForestCranberry Road PO Box 66 South Carver MA 02366 From Cape Cod: Drive over the Sagamore Bridge to Rte. 3 North to Exit 3. Take left at the top of the ramp. Go 1/2 of a mile. Take right onto Long Pond Road. Drive approximately 3 miles on Long Pond Rd. Entrance to park is on left. Follow signs to Headquarters. Stop by Headquarters to register. From Route 495: Take Rte. 495 to Exit 2 and the intersection with Rte. 58. Follow Rte. 58 North and Tremont Street. Turn right onto Cranbettry Road. Park Headquarters is at the end of Cranberry Road. Stop by headquarters to register. From Boston/Points North: Take Rte. 3 South to Exit 5. At bottom of ramp take a right onto Long Pond Road. Drive approximately 3.8 miles on Long Pond Road.
