ST. GEORGE ISLAND SP, FLDescriptionPets are not allowed on the beach, trails, boardwalks or pavillions. St. George Island is 9 miles of undeveloped beaches and dunes, surrounded by the Gulf of Mexico and Apalachicola Bay. This is the perfect setting for St. George Island Park. St. George occupies 1962 acres at the end of a long, narrow barrier island, and is a combination of sandy coves, salt marshes, shady pines, and oak forests. Alerts and Important InformationCamping is available year round. The main 60-site campground is equipped with water, electric and a dump station. Campsites are within a 15 minutes walk to the beach or the bayside. All campsites are provided with a picnic table, fire ring with grill, and a post with lantern hook. Pets are allowed in family camping areas overnight. Pets are welcome overnight in all the camping parks. Pet rules apply. Domestic breeds of dogs, except guide or signal dogs or animals trained to assist individuals with a disability, cats, fur-bearing animals, birds and reptiles are not allowed in food-service areas, cabins or cabin areas, primitive campgrounds, beaches where bathing and swimming are permitted, either land and water portions, park buildings, playgrounds, and areas designated by park management. Captive wild species, whether native or non- native, and barnyard animals, except horses, are not allowed. Pets must be well behaved at all times and confined in the owners camping unit during quiet hours. Unconfined pets may not be left unattended for more than 30 minutes and must be on a leash no more than 6 feet long. Please do not tie pets to park vegetation, natural or manmade structures or facilities. Pet owners must pick up after their pets and properly dispose of all droppings in trash receptacles. Pets are required to be vaccinated. Horse owners and users will be asked to show their certificate of a current negative Coggins Test for all horses entering the park. ÷ A pet that is noisy, disturbing, intimidating or dangerous to other people or pets, or which damages park resources, will not be allowed to remain in the park. No one younger than 18 may camp overnight unless accompanied by a responsible adult, who will remain onsite for the period rented. Beginning February 1, 2010 through late March or April, Loop B campsites, #16 - 43, will be affected by construction on the Loop B restrooms. There will be no access to the restrooms. Loop A restrooms will remain open. Beginning about March 2010 through late May or June, Loop A campsites, #1 - 15 and #44 - 60 will be affected by construction on the Loop A restrooms. There will be no access to the Loop A restrooms. Loop B restrooms should be reopened. Getting There:St. George Island SP1900 E.
