DescriptionMost of Mount San Jacinto State Park is wilderness, containing three mountain peaks, higher than 10,000 feet in elevation. The mountain's high point offer spectacular views of nearby desert and mountain ranges. Visitors can ride into the park from the park's west side or ride a tram 2.5 miles up the mountain.Hikers and backpackers need wilderness permits. Season for Peak Fees: 05/15 to 09/15 Stone Creek and Idyllwild are separate campgrounds. Idyllwild is within walking distance of the town of Idyllwild, and Stone Creek is 6 miles north on Hwy 243. Your DMV Disabled Placard/License Plate does not automatically give you a discount on your campsite. You will need to obtain a CA State park-issued Disabled Discount Pass (DDP) or Distinguished Veterans Pass (DVP).
Due to the threat of the Goldspotted Oak Borer spreading throughout San Diego County, no oak firewood will be allowed into Mount San Jacinto State Park (Idyllwild/Stone Creek). Wood can be purchased at the park or you can bring other species of firewood, such as pine or eucalyptus. For more information, contact park staff at (951) 659-2607. No group camping allowed. Only 8 people, including children, will be allowed per site at any given time. This will be strictly enforced. Failure to comply with park rules may result in eviction from campground.Group camping is available at Silverwood Lake & Lake Perris in the Inland Empire District.

SAN JACINTO SP25905 Hwy 243, Idyllwild, CA 92549 IDYLLWILD CA 92549 Driving directions for Idyllwild Campground: (25905 Hwy 243, Idyllwild CA 92549) From I-10E exit 8th St. in Banning, California, turn right onto 8th St. then left on Lincoln St, then right on San Gorgonio Ave/Highway 243. From I-10W exit Hargrove St, turn left onto Hargrove St, then right on Lincoln St. then left on San Gorgonio Ave/Highway 243. Go South on 243 for approximately 26 miles. Turn right (west) into the campground entrance. The park is accessible via Highway 243 from Idyllwild. Driving directions for Stone Creek Campground: From I-10E exit 8th St. in Banning, California, turn right onto 8th St. then left on Lincoln St, then right on San Gorgonio Ave/Highway 243. From I-10W exit Hargrove St, turn left onto Hargrove St, then right on Lincoln St. then left on San Gorgonio Ave/Highway 243. Go South on 243 for approximately 20 miles just past the Alandale Fire Station. Go east (left) at Azalea Trails Rd (Stone Creek Campground Road) for 1/4 mile.
