DescriptionGreen Lakes State Park's outstanding features are its two glacial lakes surrounded by upland forest. Both Round and Green Lakes are meromictic lakes, which means that there is no fall and spring mixing of surface and bottom waters. Such lakes have a high potential for evidence of ancient plant and animal life. Another special feature of the park is an 18-hole golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones, where visitors can snowshoe in winter, and there are 10 miles of trails that cross-country skiers can use.Geography:Green Lakes State Park is located just east of the city of Syracuse, in upstate New York. Recreation:Park visitors enjoy biking, boating, fishing, golf, hiking, picnicking, camping, and wintertime cross-country skiing. Facilities:The park's facilities include a beach, boat rentals, cabins and campsites, food concessions, a golf course, trails, picnic tables and pavilions, a playground, showers, and dumping stations. Nearby Attractions:Old Erie Canal State Historic Park, Chittenango Falls State Park, Clark Reservation State Park, Verona Beach State Park, and Lorenzo State Historic Site are among the area's natural and historical attractions. Alerts and Important InformationTo insure fairness for all NY customers, any reservation with departure dates outside the 9-month Maximum Window can not be changed or cancelled until 18 days after the reservation was made.
DURING PEAK - Cabins are 7 or 14 day reservations and run Sat. to Sat. only! Peak is from the end of June to the end of August. Peak season: A person may be the primary site occupant for 14 total days of camping within a 16 day period. S/he must leave the park for 48 hours once they have stayed the maximum number of days allowed before beginning a new reservation.
