PEARL LAKE, CO

Description

Pearl Lake State Park is by far one of the most beautiful parks in the Colorado State Park system. Nestled in the mountains north of Steamboat Springs, Pearl Lake offers peace and quiet in a lush forest setting. Surrounded by towering pines, visitors camp along the lake and up a gentle hill which is deep in the cozy woods. Excellent fly and lure fishing is available at the park where native cutthroat trout flash their dramatic red throats when pulled from the water. The 36 campsites and two yurts are shaded by dense stands of spruce, fir and lodgepole pines.

Maximum number of vehicles per site is two. Dogs are allowed but must be leashed and under control at all times. Due to the popularity of the park, campsite moves are not allowed during the peak summer season. Depending on snow conditions, first-come/first-serve camping may be available during May and October. Camping is not available during the winter months due to snow.

Yurts: Pearl Lake yurts are reservable year around. From May 1st through November 30th, a two night minimum stay is required at the yurts. No minimum night stay is required from December 1st through April 30th. The road into Pearl Lake is closed November through April due to snow. Yurts are accessible during those months by snowshoe, cross-country skis or snowmobile. It is a 1/2 mile trail. During October and May, check with the Visitor Center for current road conditions.

In addition to the camping and yurt fees, a vehicle park pass (annual or daily) is required on all vehicles entering the park. Park passes are not included in reservation fees and may be purchased at the park.
