Season for Peak Fees: 05/15 to 09/15

Palomar Mountain State Park features spectacular views of the Pacific, camping, picnicking, hiking, and fishing (trout) in Doane Pond. Coniferous forests cover much of the 1,897 acres, in contrast with the dry lowlands surrounding the mountain. This is one of the few southern California areas with a Sierra Nevada-like atmosphere. East of the park is the world-famous Palomar Observatory.

Park Kiosk Hours:

  • Lo Season: 9am-5pm - Weekends Only!

Discount Pass must be presented at the time of check in.

Palomar Mountain State Park is now Site Specific for reservations. You will choose your site at the time a reservation is made.

  • Fees include entry for 1 vehicle and 1 legally towed vehicle or trailer, all extra vehicles will be charged an additional fee at the campground.
  • To book a Group site you must have at least NINE occupants.
  • Doane Valley, 1st come / 1st when not on reservations.
  • Cedar Grove Group Campground, closed when not on reservations.

NO DOGS ALLOWED ON HIKING TRAILS!

The park is off Highway 76, up Highway S-6, then left on Highway S-7 at the junction near the mountaintop.
