LAKE OROVILLE SRA, CA

Description

Season for Peak Fees: 05/15 to 09/15

This man-made lake was formed by the tallest earth-filled dam (770 feet above the stream bed of the Feather River) in the country. Encompassing approximately 28,450 acres near the City of Oroville, the park features family and group camping, boating, an extensive system of horse, bicycle and hiking trails and a state-of-the-art horse camp. The park features "floating campsites," moored in a cove. The area includes the Feather River Fish Hatchery, built by the Department of Water Resources to replace lost spawning areas for salmon and steelhead. Displays of State Water Project and the area's natural and cultural history are featured at the visitor's center.

Alerts and Important Information

WARNING: Due to low lake levels, temporary launch ramps are in use, and 4-wheel launch vehicles are highly advised. Discount Pass must be presented at the time of check in. Fees include entry for 1 vehicle and 1 legally towed vehicle or trailer, additional vehicles will be charged per night at the park. Floating campsites are closed each year between Nov 1st and March 31st. These dates are subject to change depending on lake conditions. All other campgrounds at Lake Oroville are available by reservation between April 1st and Sept 30th of each year. They're available the rest of the year through a first come first serve basis. To book a Group site you must have at least NINE occupants Between Memorial day weekend through Labor Day weekend floating campsite checkin is at the Spillway entrance station For checkin locations any other time pls contact the lake Oroville visitors center at (530) 538-2219. Exact locations of the floating campsites depend on lake elevation. Detailed information on the locations will be provided at checkin. Pets are prohibited on the floating campsites. Due to a maintenance project, Loafer Creek campground will not be available between Oct 1st and Nov 31st 2009.

BIDWELL CANYON: 68 miles north of Sacramento on Highway 70 to Highway 162; 8 miles east on Highway 162 to Kelly Ridge Rd, left on Kelly Ridge Rd to Arroyo Dr.
SPILLWAY: 68 miles north of Sacramento on Highway 70 to Highway 162; 6.5 miles east on Highway 162 to Canyon Dr, left on Canyon Dr to Oroville Dam, and cross the dam.
LOAFER CREEK: 68 miles north of Sacramento on Highway 70 to Highway 162. 9.5 miles east on Highway 162 to Loafer Creek, left into the park.
LIME SADDLE: North of Sacramento on Highway 70 to Pentz Road; left on Pentz Road, take a right at campground entrance sign, proceed to Kiosk.
