Season for Peak Fees: 05/15 to 09/15

This park features expansive views of Monterey Bay, from its hiking trails in the grasslands of the higher peaks of the Gavilan Range. Other views include the San Benito Valley, Salinas Valley, and the Santa Lucia Mountains east of Big Sur. Pine and oak woodlands in the park are home to many birds and mammals. There are camping and picnic facilities in the park. The park also features an astronomical observatory with a 30-inch telescope, which is open for public programs on selected evenings.

Discount Pass must be presented at the time of check in.

Fremont State Park is site specific. You will select your site at the time you make your reservation.

  • Access road to Fremont Peak campground is 11 miles, narrow and winding, subject to ice in winter. Overall maximum vehicle length is 25 ft. Clear sky, no moon nights, April through October, park is popular for astronomy, stargazing activity in and around the campground all night!

  • Fees include entry for 1 vehicle and 1 legally towed vehicle or trailer, additional vehicles will be charged per night at the park.
    • Park 1st come / 1st served when off reservations.
    • Family and Group Site Reservations 03/01 through 11/30 each year.
    • To book a Group site you must have at least NINE occupants

From San Juan Bautista and Hwy. 156, take San Juan Canyon Road South for 11 miles, follow the signs to the park entrance station.
