WHITEFISH HORSE CAMP (OR), OR

Description

Whitefish Horse Campground has nice large sites with double or quadruple metal corrals. Non-horse campers need to be aware that these sites are meant for campers with horses, so please be courteous. There are a lot more sites in the forest that can't take horses that there are ones that can take them.

There are 19 sites in the campground all of which should be able to accommodate your RV and horse trailer and perhaps another vehicle as well. (The extra vehicle is an additional fee). There is a pressurized water system and two wood vault style toilets. There is cell phone coverage if you have the right carrier. Each sites has a picnic table and firepit. That is true of all of our campground sites. There is a place to gather your manure for later disposal by us.

This campground may have a host, if not, an attendant will visit from two to four times per day. For help, if needed, you can visit the host at Spring Campground or the one at Simax Group Campground.

This campground VEGETATION: SHADE AVAILABLE, ELEVATION 4800 FEET, NEAR CRESCENT LAKE is for campers with horses only. Sites 008, 013, and 018 have 4 horse stalls, all others have 2 horse stalls. Trails lead into the Diamond Peak POTABLE WATER AVAILABLE, STAFF ON SITE, CAMPSITES MAY BE COMBINED FOR Wilderness and Oregon Cascades Recreation Area. HORSE TRAILS, WATER SKIING, FISHING, HIKING CAMPERS REQUIRED TO CLEAN OWN STALLS AND BAG MANURE. HORSE CAMP INTENDED FOR HORSEMEN ONLY

Alerts and Important Information

Horse Campers may only use Certified Weed-Seed-Free Hay when you stay at any of our USFS Horse Campgrounds. For more information please call your local USFS Ranger station or click on the link here. http://www.fs.fed.us/r6/centraloregon/recreation/campgrounds/horsecamps.shtml Reservations must be made at least 4 days in advance. A fee of $5 for extra vehicles will be collected at the campground. PETS MUST BE LEASHED Customers are required to bay all manure from stalls, campsites and QUIET HOURS 10PM TO 6AM 2ND VEHICLE FEE COLLECTED AT CAMPGROUND parking spurs. Horses must be kept in stalls. MAXIMUM 2 VEHICLES PER SITE This horse camp is open after snow levels recede, usually by Memorial Day. It stays open until snow blocks the road, typically by Thanksgiving. However, water and host services may not be provided after early October. Please check in with the campground host upon arrival.

From I-5 take exit 188A towards Oakridge, continue on Hwy. 58 for 69.3 miles, then turn right at NF Rd. 60 for 2.2 miles, then turn right at Crescent Lake Rd for 1.2 miles, make a slight right at NF Rd. 60 for 3.5 miles. Destination will be on the left.

From La Pine, travel south on Hwy. 97 for 17.5 miles, then turn right at the Crescent Cutoff Rd for 11.9 miles, then turn right at Hwy. 58 for about 2 miles, then turn left at NF Rd. 60 for 2.2 miles, then turn right at Crescent Lake Rd for 1.2 miles, make a slight right at NF Rd. 60 for 3.5 miles. Destination will be on the left.
