As the nation's largest federal provider of outdoor and water-based recreation, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers invites you and your family to have a safe and enjoyable visit to one of the Corps' more than 400 lakes and more than 2,400 recreation sites nationwide. During your visit to these sites or the thousands of other federal lands and waters, we encourage you and your loved ones to always wear a properly fitted life jacket when boating or playing on or near the water. Description

In the gentle slopes of South Central Kentucky, the Wax Campground on Nolin Lake has great appeal to the naturalist or those who just want to get away from it all. The campground has gentle slopes with mixed evergreen and hardwoods and thick underbrush. There is a sloping incline access to the shoreline. There is a playground located within the campground and there is a boat ramp and picnic shelter adjacent to the campground. Wax Campground offers 110 campsites, 56 with electric and water hookup. Other amenities include a dump station, flush facilities, showers, accessible boat ramp, picnic shelter, playground, and public marina. Other area attractions include Mammoth Cave National Park, Nolin Lake State Park, Wax Hotel, golf courses and riding stables.

Alerts and Important Information

This campground requires you to reserve 3 days in advance, and you must stay 3 nights on holiday weekends. The campground is open from mid-April through 3rd weekend in October with attendants on duty. The fees range in price from $15-$22/night. The telephone number is (270)242-7578. Local option law prohibits the use of alcohol. Fires allowed only in the fire rings provided at each site. Reserved campsites will be held until check-out time on the day following your scheduled arrival if the customer does not show or call the campground they will be process as a no-show.

From Louisville, KY: Take I-65 S to exit 76 at Upton, then take Hwy 224 W to Millerstown 9 mi. Turn left on Hwy 479 and go 8 mi to Hwy 88, turn left on Hwy 88 and go 0.5 mi to campground entrance road.
