As the nation's largest federal provider of outdoor and water-based recreation, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers invites you and your family to have a safe and enjoyable visit to one of the Corps' more than 400 lakes and more than 2,400 recreation sites nationwide. During your visit to these sites or the thousands of other federal lands and waters, we encourage you and your loved ones to always wear a properly fitted life jacket when boating or playing on or near the water. We need your help to reduce the number of water-related injuries and deaths. Visitor safety is the Corps' number one priority. We actively promote water and boater safety and education programs. WARM SPRING REC AREA (CA), CA

Description

This is a day use area. The Warm Spring Recreation Area is located at Lake Sonoma, just a 45 minute drive north of Santa Rosa and a 2 hour drive from San Francisco. A large grassy, mowed field comprises the Warm Springs Recreation Area dotted with 6 large group picnic areas and smaller individual family picnic tables. There are 2 sand volleyball courts and a large play area for football, baseball, or other field sport. A small playground with tire swing, slides and climbing structures is also present. Across the street from the picnic area, visitors can discover the natural and cultural history of the area at the Milt Brandt Visitor Center. The Woodland Ridge Nature Trail winds up the ridge for great views of the Dry Creek Valley and Lake Sonoma.

Alerts and Important Information

Reservations must be made at least 3 days in advance. The group picnic sites contain a covered shelter with seating for approximately 75 people. A large barbecue is also in each area. Fires are allowed only in the BBQ grills provided and must be attended at all times. Amplified music is prohibited. There are no parking spaces at the individual group shelters. There are two large parking lots nearby that customers can park in and then walk to their associated picnic site. Failure to leave the site clean for the next group will result in additional charges.

Take Hwy 101 to Healdsburg and exit on Dry Creek Road. Travel west another 11 miles to park boundary. Watch the road signs and make a left turn across from the Visitor Center to reach the Warm Springs Recreation Area.
