UPPER SAGE FLAT (CA), CA

Description

Located in the eastern Sierra, 9 miles west of the town of Big Pine, California. Situated in a narrow canyon stream bottom with Jeffrey pine and sagebrush. Adjacent to Big Pine Creek, which is stocked with trout. Elevation is 7,600 feet. Roads are paved. Facilities provided include handicap toilet, restrooms, picnic tables and fire rings. Firewood is for sale at the site. Popular activities include fishing, hiking, bird watching, horseback riding and wildlife viewing. Wilderness hiking available to lakes and glacier in John Muir Wilderness.

Alerts and Important Information

Reservations must be made at least 4 days in advance. 2 night minimum on weekends. 3 night minimum on holidays. This campground has first-come, first-served sites. This campground is available on a walk-in basis only until the just before Memorial Day.
