TOMPKINS BEND (AR), AR

Description

Tompkins Bend Campground is located on Lake Ouachita in Arkansas. The lake at normal power pool extends approximately 30 miles and has a water surface of 40,000 acres. Visitors enjoy fishing, skiing, scuba diving, boating, and other water activities. Bald eagles are an attraction for the visitors during the winter. The campground consists of 77 sites, 63 with electric hookups and 15 have water hook-ups. Other amenities include a dump station, fish cleaning station, hot showers, and a boat ramp.

Reservations must be made at least 3 days in advance. This campground requires a 2 night minimum stay on weekends. This campground requires a 3 night minimum stay on holidays. This campground also have first-come, first served sites. The peak season for the campground is May 1 - September 30. Sites are $10-$12 for tent sites and $14-18 for electric sites Most sites will accommodate two camping units. A park attendant operates the fee booth during the reservation season. Reservations will be taken 1 May to 30 September. No ATVs allowed.

From Hot Springs, AR: Take US 270 west approximately 24.5 miles to Tompkin Bend Road. Turn right and follow access road 2.4 miles north to park. From Mount Ida, AR: Take US 270 east approximately 10.7 miles to Tompkins Bend Road. Turn left and follow access road 2.4 miles north to the park.
