As the nation's largest federal provider of outdoor and water-based recreation, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers invites you and your family to have a safe and enjoyable visit to one of the Corps' more than 400 lakes and more than 2,400 recreation sites nationwide. During your visit to these sites or the thousands of other federal lands and waters, we encourage you and your loved ones to always wear a properly fitted life jacket when boating or playing on or near the water. We need your help to reduce the number of water-related injuries and deaths. Visitor safety is the Corps' number one priority. We actively promote water and boater safety and education programs. TAILWATER (KY), KYDescriptionThe Tailwater campground is a 48-site area located along the Barren River, just below the dam. The cool water provides fishing for catfish, hybrid striped bass, and rainbow trout when stocked. A control station regulates access and the main campground road is paved. Electric and water are available at individual sites, and there is 1 pit-type restrooms and showerhouse in the area. Services & Amenities:
Alerts and Important InformationRestrictions include: maximum of 6 people, pets must be on a leash, no alcohol allowed, visitor fees charged, and No ATVs allowed. Leave firewood at home; do not transport it to campgrounds or parks. Use firewood from local sources. If you have moved firewood, burn all of it before leaving your campsite. (Latitude, Longitude): 36.89444, -86.13306 From Glasgow, KY: Take 31-E south for 4 mi; turn right on 252, which will cross the dam in 8 mi. The Tailwater entrance road is at the south end of the dam.
